Get eye smart is just a few seconds:

- What is 20/20?

20/20 is referred to as having the perfect vision. Anyone outside that, needs some sort of optical correction via eyeglasses, contacts or surgery.20/ 20 vision means that from 20 feet away from the standard eye chart, you can read the 20th line on the chart. At the opposite extreme if you can only see the first line of the eye chart from 20 feet away, your vision is 20/200.

- Why do people need optical correction?

Most common vision abnormalities are myopia (nearsighted), hyperopia (far sighted), presbyopia (near and far sighted at the same time) or astigmatism. They occur because of the inability of one’s retina to process images. For example, in the case of myopia, images are projected in front of the retina and hence, one cannot accurately see objects located at a further distance.

- What is the difference between all the different types of eyewear?

Once diagnosed with a visual impairment, you have plenty of options on how to correct it. Aside from the classic eyeglasses that up until a few decades ago were the only option, you can opt for all the various types of contact lenses or eye surgery to permanently correct it.
