Rimless Glasses
Wearers of glasses have long complained about the weight and bulky nature of traditional frames. Even lighter weight material and improved technology has done little to reduce the strain of wearing glasses on a daily basis. That is one reason that stylish rimless glasses have become so popular recently. These lightweight glasses are essentially lenses without the accompanying frame. Only the bridge joins the two lenses across the nose. They are virtually invisible when worn. The only noticeable portions of these rimless glasses are the earpieces, and they are not apparent when facing someone head-on.
Rimless glasses are capable of correcting any vision problems correctable by traditional rimmed glasses. Naturally, the lighter the lenses the more comfortable the glasses will be. For this reason, rimless glasses can be more expensive than traditional frames. Rimless prescription eyeglasses were first invented by Kazuo Kawasaki and are still referred to as Kawasaki glasses in some circles. It is astounding that this style of glasses took so long to invent. Rimmed and semi-rimmed glasses have been around for years, but it was not until recently that rimless eyeglasses were available to the public.
The face is the most expressive part of the body. It is how people interact with each other. There is a reason the eyes are referred to as windows to the soul. Rimless glasses ensure the face can be seen. Without a bulky frame concealing the area around the eye, the face is open. Expressions can be seen. Subtle movements of the eyebrow and tightening of the brow are apparent. An expressive face is an attractive face.
While rimless eyeglasses are identical to traditional prescription glasses in most respects, the primary benefit will always be style. These lightweight, barely noticeable eyeglasses are appealing to those who do not want their eyeglasses to dominate the look of their face.
